The Need

The streets have become the most unforgiving waiting room for safe, affordable housing. Each winter, Michigan records more than 9 739 individuals without a permanent home. Freezing nights turn discomfort into crisis, and without soap or clean towels a small cut can become a serious infection.

What your gift provides

Personal Hygiene Kits

Each kit contains one toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, bar soap, comb, towel, and washcloth all packed in a clear or white drawstring bag for easy distribution.

Winter Blankets

Single twin-size blankets are distributed throughout Metro-Detroit organizations in the fall of every year.

(If you love couponing, you can stretch every dollar by buying new hygiene items at the best possible deal and donating them directly.)

How We Work

  • Bulk buying: We negotiate the lowest prices on blankets and key supplies.

  • Volunteer power: Angels of Mercy teams sort and assemble kits.

  • Rapid response: Partner shelters request stock.

  • Ongoing care: Every winter, we repeat the cycle until no request goes unmet.
