PAcemaker Program

The World's 1st & Only Pacemaker Reconditioning Facility

Pacemaker program

Sheldon & Marion Davis Pacemaker Recycling Center at World Medical Relief - home of Project My Heart Your Heart, the world’s first and only facility dedicated to reconditioning and recycling pacemakers.

What is a pacemaker?

A pacemaker is a tiny, battery powered device that sends gentle electrical pulses to keep your heartbeat steady. By preventing dangerously slow or irregular rhythms, it stops dizziness or fainting and gives people the freedom to live fully again.

Why it matters

Every year more than 1 million people lose their life because they need but cannot afford a pacemaker or ICD.

We refuse to accept that.

  • Dr. Kim Eagle, MD, Director of the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center, and

Dr. Thomas Crawford, MD, cardiac electrophysiologist at Michigan Medicine, led the FDA-approved research proving that safely refurbished devices save lives.

  • World Medical Relief receives devices from hospitals, funeral homes, and families, then our team of biomedical experts cleans, tests, and certifies each pacemaker for a second chance at life.

  • To date we’ve logged nearly 30,000 donated pacemakers and counting.

powered by partnerships

Project My Heart Your Heart unites surgeons, ethicists, and engineers worldwide.

(Initial vision by Dr. Kim Eagle & Dr. Thomas Crawford; ongoing guidance from infectious-disease and global-health experts.)
